In this part 3 of "How to Stand Up Paddle with Verena Mei" we talk about one of the most common mistakes beginners make: holding the blade backwards. Most beginners intuitively angle the blade towards them, thinking this will help them "scoop" more water. We go over the correct way, angling the blade forward, away from you and why this is more efficient to propel water back and yourself forward vs. "shovleing" water upward, which drives the board down into the water and creating drag instead of creating lift and forward propulsion. We also cover how to change hands when switching sides and and where to place the lower hand on the shaft.
