Segment 2 of the shortening a winch line series brings us to using a 3/4 inch screw pin bow shackle to try and shorten winch line. A couple of methods were used where we just looped the rope over the shackle, and then used a 2 inch dowel to also shorten rope through the shackle.

This video will show you the strengths and weaknesses of this method, and I'll talk about whether or not I like the idea overall.

The final series is coming up in a week where we take apart the anchor rope that was tied off with an X-lock, so we'll see how that faired too soon!
