This is a 3 way split video of HDR sample for educational purposes only to educate people wanting to build an HDR PC or use older hardware to see how far you can push it.
To install XDR you can get it here:

Make a note of the highlights and dark areas and color tone of all three formats on these tests on a Sony XBR850C HDR TV. XDR opens up many options for older pcs and older video cards and tvs that missed the HDR mandate. Powerful CPUS like Kaby Lake from Intel will work with XDR. XDR will work on Hdmi 1.4a and up. Madvr has a look of its own. Call it the wet dark color look. HDR ..... Real HDR is not pumped up saturation. It is proper skin tones and color in the sky and in the dark shadows. Sometimes real HDR is boring..... Depends on how the producer does the color correction in post for the movie.
You can try the latest lav filters but I blocked only the video lav filter in these tests and used the Mpcbe(low) built in filter because the colors are richer. The built in filter supports smooth hardware acceleration of the AMD RX470 video card. Lav filters also support this card. Try both and see which one looks best. I can make XDR look identical to MadVR by adjusting the contrast and brightness sliders but rather want a closer HDR look from my real HDR player.
Hope you find these tests results helpful in determining your HDR experience for PC and for your tv viewing pleasure......
