Pastor Steven Furtick claims that the $1.7 million mega-house he's building is a gift from his creator, New York Daily News reported. Furtick, shepherds a flock of nearly 14,000 evangelical Christians every weekend at North Carolina's Elevation Church. He's was under fire for building a 16,000 square foot house in Weddington—and his congregation was standing behind him. Furtick's swanky new crib sits on 19 acres of dense woodland, according to an investigative report by WCNC. It reportedly has five bedrooms, 7 ½ bathrooms and 8,400 square feet of heated living area. The rest of the space is made up of a basement, attic, garage and porch, the Charlotte Observer reported. The deed for the new house is made out to a trust run by James 'Chunks' Corbett, Elevation's executive pastor according to WCNC.
