Recording under the ‘Claude Cloud’ pseudonym and featuring the great session player Sam “The Man” Taylor on tenor sax, longtime arranger-bandleader-songwriter Kirkland gave us this first recording of “Cloudburst.” The title would later become best-known as a tricky jazz vocal number featuring vocalese lyrics by Jon Hendricks. Here are recorded examples by Lambert, Hendricks & Ross [ Ссылка ] as well as an early effort from singer Barry Manilow [ Ссылка ]
Released on 45 single MGM 55003 - Cloudburst (Leroy Kirkland-Jimmy Harris) by Claude Cloud and his Thunderclaps, Sam (The Man) Taylor on tenor sax
