Rally Raid has been a game mode in the DiRT series since the first game in 2007. Here you can see the history and evolution of Rally Raid in DiRT from Dirt 1 all the way to Dirt 5 and also the different cars that were available for it.

Dirt 1 had Rally Raid as one of its 6 major games modes. There were 3 different tracks available for it, all of them being located in the wasteland of the US. In terms of vehicles there were a total of 8 in two different categories. The Rally Raid T1 category had the Mitsubishi L200 Triton, Rally Raid UK Desert Warrior, Nissan Dakar Pickup, BMW X3 CC X-Raid, Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 and Mitsubishi Montero EVO MPR11. The Rally Raid T4 category had the Kamaz 4911 and MAN TGA trucks.
Dirt 2 had 5 tracks for Rally Raid in 4 different locations with Croatia, Morocco, Malaysia and Baja California. Once again there were two different categories of Raid cars. The Stock Baja category had the Dodge Power Wagon, Honda Ridgeline, Hummer HX and Toyota FJ Cruiser. The Rally Raid T1 category had the Bowler Nemesis, Hummer H3, Mitsubishi Racing Lancer and Volkswagen Race Touareg 2. There is also an old Mitsubishi Pajero as a bonus car, which I haven't unlocked yet.
Dirt 3 did not have Raid as a separate game mode anymore. However, the Rally Raid T1 cars from Dirt 2 were added as a car class to the Rally mode, so you can drive them on the 40 rally stages of the game in Finland, Kenya, Michigan, Norway and Monte Carlo.
Dirt 4 was the only one of the main Dirt games so far that did not feature any Raid cars at all.
Dirt 5 brought back Raid cars with the Laffite G-Tec X-Road, Mini John Cooper Works Buggy, Peugeot 3008 DKR Maxi, Porsche Macan T1, Sodicars BMW BV6 and Volkswagen Race Touareg 3. There are only 4 tracks that are labeled as Rally Raid (in Brazil, China, Greece and South Africa) but you can also use the Raid cars on several of the other track types and for example "Stampede" is basically Rally Raid as well, just on circuit tracks.
I hope you enjoyed this little review of the history and evolution of Rally Raid cars and gameplay in the DiRT series. If this video does well, then I might do the same type of video for some of the other game modes like Rallycross or Land Rush as well. :)
