The last of the Judas Priest Invincible Shield singles Serpent and the King is out… and in case you don’t know yet… it will melt your face!
The opening riff to Serpent and the King has this rather old school vibe, yet together with the drums kicking later on, which enhance its vigorous sound, it shows right away that on the fourth single Judas Priest are back with a scullcrushing banger, on which they leave no room for compromise for themselves despite their respectable age.
But with all due respect to Richie and the boys, the biggest surprise of the track’s first part is not the audacious performance of the instrumentals, but rather the aggression, power and at the same time precision of Rob Halford’s high pitch vocals, which take you back in time to the sound Judas Priest propagated in the early 80s.
