Apple Picking and Packing: [ Ссылка ]
Unstructured bin picking of sensitive objects has been particularly challenging for robotics in e-commerce logistics and food handling applications. Not only do such products need to be accurately located and picked from a bin, the robot needs to delicately handle the product to avoid damage or bruising. The apple picking system seen here from FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Soft Robotics, Inc. resolves these issues, effectively using a FANUC LR Mate industrial robot to safely and accurately pick and pack apples.
First, Soft Robotics’ adaptable gripper enables the robot to interact with the apple it’s picking - and the surrounding apples - without damaging any of the products. Soft Robotics’ gripper is made of FDA approved materials that are cleanable in primary food handling environments. The Soft Robotics gripper doesn’t require any feedback systems or force sensing, greatly simplifying the difficult challenge of grasp planning.
Additionally, the system uses FANUC’s 3D Area Sensor to locate each individual apple for picking. Once the FANUC robot locates the apple to be picked using the 3D Area Sensor, it can grab it in any orientation - No other information is required, as the Soft Robotics gripper does not need to know the orientation of the apple nor where it picks it from. Once the robot has an apple in its Soft Robotics gripper, it gently places the apple into a clam shell for shipping.
Adaptive, inexpensive, and easy to use, Soft Robotics grippers are ideal for unstructured bin picking applications for products that come in a variety of shapes and sizes. To learn more about FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Soft Robotics, please visit [ Ссылка ].
