(11 Feb 2019) Thousands of protesters took to the streets of the Haitian capital on Monday, clashing with police for the fifth straight day of demonstrations against against economic mismanagement and corruption.
Thousands marched in the street of Port-au-Prince, car tires were lit in the middle of the streets and at least two busiensses were looted.
At least four protesters, some injured, were seen handcuffed and detained in the back of a police pick up truck.
On Saturday, protesters stoned the Haitian president's home and clashed with police leaving at least one demonstrator dead.
Organisers pledged more protests in the days to come, increasing pressure on President Jovenel Moise, who is calling for negotiations with the opposition.
Protesters are angry about skyrocketing inflation and the government's failure to prosecute embezzlement from a multi-billion Venezuelan programme that sent discounted oil to Haiti.
