This video is a screen capture showing touches which you will see as little white dots on the screen. Those white dots are where my touches are registering. This should help you see what finger motion I'm making to do my throws. It's not important to listen as much as it is to watch what motions I'm making to execute the throws. I throw with my index finger and use two hands one holding my phone and one executing the throw. This allows me to throw much faster and you need that speed to hit the Pokémon that are further back sometimes. I don't recommend throwing one handed with your thumb but some people can do it and some phones are better at one handed mode as well. Smaller screens are generally easier for one handed gameplay.
The catch bonus for a great throw is one part of the overall catch bonus mechanic and the other part is doing the curve ball. They are totally separate and compound on top of one another. Thats why I spent so much time talking about how to do a curve throw in this video. It's really important but some people just want to know how to do the great throw because they want the research. When I made this video research didn't even exist in the game 😉
If you read this far please comment your favorite Pokémon in the comments below! And if you can hit it with a great throw or not!!! 😂
