Try out this Gaura Purnima Special Cholar Dal which is a flavourful dal recipe from the Bengali cuisine. This dal is simple yet truely delicious. It has native spices to give the authentic bengali flavours.

Servings - 5

Ingredients :

2 cups chana dal
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 bay leaf
5 cups water
2 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 cup water
4 tbsp mustard oil
1/4 cup small pieces of fresh coconut
9 to 10 cashews
2 tbsp raisins
4 cloves
2 small cinnamon sticks
3 cardamom pods
2 dried red chillis
1/4 tsp asafoitida or hing
1 tsp cumin seed
2 tsp sugar
2 slitted green chillies
1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp garam masala
