This tutorial shows you how to combine two datasets with a common identifier (census tract ID) using the MERGE tool in Excel's Data query toolset. This is an important data management skill for Excel users.
You'll also see how to split columns and how to add a prefix (leading zero) to a column of data, so the mismatched identifiers (census tract IDs) match - a prerequisite for the merging to occur.
