This course will provide an overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as it relates to the treatment of adolescents who struggle with emotion dysregulation, self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, and other emotional, mood, and behavioral issues. The course addresses the structure of the DBT treatment model and the biosocial theory and dialectical philosophy upon which it is based. The course focuses on material from the DBT Skills Training Manual, along with skills training handouts and worksheets. This presentation gives mental health practitioners an inside look at the advantages of using DBT with adolescents, with pragmatic suggestions on how to integrate DBT interventions.
