In 2017, Shepherd Offshore utilised its remaining dry dock for five gravity bases. Each GBF is made up of 1,800m3 of concrete, weighs over 15,000 tonnes and are approximately 60 metres high. Transferring the gravity bases from barge to quay, to SPMT to dry dock, these complex, heavy lifts consisted of careful planning due to the height of the structures.
Located in Blyth Northumberland, the windfarm benefits the local community, generating enough electricity to power approximately 34,000 homes in the UK.
