What happens in Michigan if someone is not following their child support order? Do they still get parenting time? What if the parenting time order is not being followed? Does the child support need to be paid?
Child support and parenting time are separate parts of a court order that both must be followed. Just because one parent is violating part of the order does not mean that the other parent can violate a different part of the order.
The Friend of the Court is responsible for enforcing both parenting time and child support orders.
If you are not getting your court ordered parenting time or child support and you have a Genesee County Friend of the Court case, you can submit complaints in writing at 630 S. Saginaw St. Flint, MI 48502 or by email at focinfo@co.genesee.mi.us.
If you have a Friend of the Court case in another county in Michigan, you can reach out to their office or you may be able to chat with a worker in that county using the MiChildSupport website at micase.state.mi.us
