In November 2015, 11 African countries came together in Ethiopia for a 5-day workshop: 'Embedding mutually supportive Implementation of the Plant Treaty and the Nagoya Protocol in the context of broader national policy goals'.

The workshop was organized by Bioversity International and the ABS Capacity Development Initiative, and carried out through the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security, and in partnership with the Convention on Biological Diversity, the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, the Japan Biodiversity Fund and the African Union.
