Manoj Raghavan, MBBS, PhD, FRCPath, MRCP, CCST, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK, briefly discusses the major challenges associated with diagnosing myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and further comments on how approaches to diagnosing MDS are improving with novel technologies. Dr Raghavan also highlights how novel classifications for MDS and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) may impact clinical practice and trial design.
