In his latest international spy thriller, Ignatius taps into the high-stakes, high-tech world of cyber-spies. The equivalent of last century’s race to develop an atom bomb, the push to create a quantum computer capable of shredding any encryption in existence is keeping U.S.-China relations tense, and the CIA sends Harris Chang to a research lab that may have been compromised by a Chinese informant. The investigation soon gets out of control, and questions arise over whether there really was a mole, or if the search for one is meant to distract U.S. agents from something else. In addition to writing mysteries including The Director, Firing Offense, and Body of Lies, which served as the basis for the 2008 film, Ignatius is a long-time columnist and editor for The Washington Post, specializing in the CIA and the Middle East.
