Okay, so story time. I was looking through the meta decks for CYAC and ended up at Branded. I saw Gimmick Puppet Nightmare lock and snored. But then I realized it was a Machine and my mind immediately went to the arguably 2nd best deck in Superheavy Samurai and that all the main deck monsters were Machine. So, I went "Huh, wouldn't it be funny if SHS could do the Puppet Lock while having Baronne and Regulus up to make things worse?" I then laughed off the thought as stupid and went on with my day. But as I was going through my daily check for Road of the King articles, they posted a tournament deck report for the OCG Duelist Cup 2023 China Mainland Hangzhou Regional Qualifier. I took a look to see what was cooking in the OCG and saw that SHS won 1st place, I saw the decklist and lo, THE FUCKING GIMMICK PUPPET LOCK!
How does it work? Basically The Gimmick Puppet Link monster, Chimera Doll (Yeah, didn't know Gimmick Puppets had Link monster did ya?) can either add to hand or send to grave any Gimmick Puppet monster from the Deck as an ignition effect with the downside of locking you into Gimmick Puppet monsters...FOR THE REST OF THE TURN ONLY! Not only that, it's super generic just requiring 2 Machine monsters, no Gimmick Puppet monster required! So just go through the generic SHS combo of Baronne and Regulus set up, but this time grabbing Cyber Stein to summon Albion the Sanctifire Dragon and make Chimera Doll. Sanctifire Dragon can then Quick Effect summon any SHS monster to your field and the Gimmick Puppet Nightmare to your opponent's and locking them out of Special Summons.
Is it better than the current Ancient Gearbox + Infinitrack Tunneller draw 2 combo? Maybe, maybe not. But the fact SHS can even do this is a testament to how much BS this deck is capable of all because of Wakaushi.
