Born Charles Buchinski on November 3, 1921 in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania to a family of Lithuanian immigrants, Charles Bronson began by working in coal mines. After completing his military service during World War II, he studied acting in California before making his film debut in the 1950s, where his very typical face and his boxer's musculature dedicated him to the roles of "tough" throughout a career that spans nearly forty years.
