Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau testified before a probe on Wednesday regarding allegations of Chinese interference in the country’s past two elections.
Trudeau denied that China’s meddling affected the outcomes and claimed it was “improbable” that China favored any specific Canadian party.
His testimony came after revelations that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) presented evidence of Chinese interference but no action was taken.
The interference reportedly targeted Conservative candidates, potentially influencing the election results. Former Conservative leader Erin O’Toole alleged that Chinese interference cost his party several seats.
Trudeau disputed these claims, stating that the elections maintained their integrity despite foreign attempts to influence them, Breitbart News has reported.
