ZOMBASITE is a game by Soldak Entertainment that really pushes the ARPG genre in a new direction by blending it with survival and 4X strategy game mechanics (think "Civilization" meets Path of Exile). They aren't pretty games and can be a bit clunky and obscure but the depth and volume of interesting and unique additional mechanics creates and ARPG experience unlike any other. This is the sort of experimentation that can be explored when an indie dev with vision has a passion. Highly recommended for ARPG enthusiasts, probably less so for casual ARPG dabblers. These are meaty games.

Zombasite also has an expansion pack (Orc Schism). It's not mandatory but adds some nice content, I recommend playing the core game for a while to see if you find it interesting, I picked it up about 10 hours in.
