Here's the easiest way to use the Barcelona metro: buy the T-10 and travel like a local. The metro is in excellent condition because they've doubled the prices in the last 10 years, unlike local salaries. :)
Metro Schedule
Mon to Thur: 5am to midnight
Fri: 5am to 2am
Sat: 5am to Sunday at midnight
Aug 2018 Price of T-10: 10.20€
(expect increases)
The T-10 is not valid to get to and from the airport.
To get to the airport:
Taxi = around 30€.
Airport bus from Plaza Catalonia = 5.90€
Special metro ticket to the airport = 4.60€
The HOLA unlimited pass
3 to 5 days
15€ to 35€ per person
The T-10 is an inexpensive, easy option that allows multi-person usage between the metro and municipal buses. It's the most commonly used pass by local BCN people. It's valid for a year and probably will get you through a 2 to 3-day visit.
