Cauldron Linn is experencing record waterflow in 2017. This unexpected natural wonder is located only 20 miles southeast of Twin Falls. The Snake River churns through a narrow section of the canyon just 40 feet wide, creating the intimidating and spectacular Cauldron Linn waterfall, also known as Star Falls. It’s claim to fame? In 1811, an expedition team employed by John Jacob Astor journeying to the Pacific Ocean encountered the waterfall. The waterfall proved perilous – the team lost a member of their party and two canoes in the area before continuing their expedition on land. In 1972, the waterfall was added to the National Historic Register of Historic Places for its role in the expedition. If you choose to visit, please use caution in this wild environment. #SeeIdaho
