Do you know what boggles my mind? People pay $20k or more for a scanner and then don't use it for everything it can do. The most common one I hear is not using it for restoring implants. It's straightforward. Here is a 3-minute video using a Medit i700 scanner and Medit link software. But the process is the same with almost all the scanners.

1- take the healing abutment off
2- scan both arches and take a bite
3- place a scan body (A part that the implant company or lab provides) on the implant and scan just that area in the implant module

Done. Send it to the lab.
