Join Anne Godsey in a virtual program on Japanese prints and printmaking from the Ukiyo-e prints of the 18th and 19th centuries to the soak hanga contemporary prints of the 20th century. Anne will discuss the definition of an original print vs a reproduction, acquaint us with the four major techniques of printmaking, and explain the numbering system employed by contemporary printmakers. She illustrates her presentation with examples from the print collection that she and her husband, Jerry, developed over the past 50 years. The Godseys lived in Japan from 1970-77 and managed to collect nearly 400 Japanese prints by 75 different artists. Ultimately, the entire collection will reside at the Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida, their Alma Mater.
