In Silvam Ligne Ferre Line-up : Crashgrab – Vocals. Matt – Bass. Rawky – Drums. Newave - Guitar.
(Apologies, but there were apparently no pictures taken of Crashgrab during this session. Haven’t a clue why (unless possibly because she asked for it to be so?))
The song. Crashgrab wrote this. Pretty straightforward conceptually, but said in a very pleasing way if I do say so myself (and I just did). I’m sure most of us have lived through at least one of these jobs, and I know how exhilarating it can be to finally say “later, dude” with middle finger pointing proudly to the sky. But also, this song kinda rocks! If I remember correctly, Crashgrab had a lot to do with the arrangement of this song, too. Don’t know or remember what inspired her to write it, but then I wouldn’t say even if I did. At any rate, a nice little “Take This Job And Shove it!” or “9 to 5”.
I think the recording of these songs, especially this one, were pretty much right down the middle. Andy usually had me double the guitar tracks, and the work he did with Crashgrab was left to the two of them, so they could concentrate without a bunch of stupid boys interrupting. Most of this material was recorded in only one or two takes. Somehow, we’d become pretty fucking good!
The lead, though, is interesting. I very much remember playing the part, and then recording a second 3rd harmony part to it. The frightening thing to me is that it is all but imperceptible. I promise it’s there, but WOW it’s hard to hear!
And, well, that’s about it for this episode. Rockin’ song all around. What else can one say? : )
