The chief complaint of chest pain notoriously comes into the emergency department pretty frequently.

In fact, I just finished up a long shift at the chest pain center the other day and it's so easy to forget one of these causes.

So, every time I see chest pain as the chief complaint, I like to rule out the six deadly causes:

1. Acute coronary syndrome
2. Aortic dissection
3. Cardiac tamponade
4. Pulmonary embolism
5. Tension pneumothorax
6. Boerhaave's syndrome

So let's dive deeper sharing how you can rule these causes out as well.
