In this video, Dom Sigalas samples the drums, including kick, snares, hi hats and clap from a classic Roland TR-909 drum machine, then imports the samples into the Backbone VST instrument. Here he can edit the sample length, decompose samples and create custom drum sounds with the re-synth engine. Having separated the tonal and noise elements of the TR-909 rhythm composer samples, Dom looks at how to change the purity, formant, legato and pitch envelope, how to choose a root key and tune sounds, layering sounds, adding effects and distortion. It highlights how the Backbone VST, virtual audio instrument is the most advanced synthesizer for drums available.
