This HSK (Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì, 汉语水平考试) flashcard series has been made for the new changes, from HSK 2.0 to HSK 3.0, with additional the vocabulary included.
The new HSK (3.0) includes advanced levels of 7, 8, and 9 which were not previously available in HSK 2.0. This is helpful for those used to proficiency levels on the European Common Framework (CEFR) such as C1 and C2. It has been said that the new HSK levels of 7, 8, and 9 are comparable C1 and C2 levels.
The New HSK Standards by level are:
New HSK 1 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 500
New HSK 2 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 1,272 total (Level 1 vocab of 500+772 more)
New HSK 3 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 2,245 total (Level 2 vocab of 1272+973)
New HSK 4 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 3,245 total (Level 3 vocab of 2245+1000)
New HSK 5 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 4,316 total (Level 4 vocab of 3245+1071)
New HSK 6 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 5,456 total (Level 5 vocab of 4316+1140)
New HSK 7, 8 and 9 (3.0) Required Vocabulary is now: 11,092 total (Level 6 vocab of 5456+5636)
Previous Standards under HSK 2.0 were:
HSK 1 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 150
HSK 2 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 300
HSK 3 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 600
HSK 4 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 1200
HSK 5 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 2500
HSK 6 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: 5000
HSK 7/8/9 (2.0) Required Vocabulary: N/A
The vocabulary required of HSK 2.0 Level 6 and HSK 3.0 Level 6 are 5,000 and 5,456 respectively. This is a difference of 456 words which isn’t a huge increase.
Ultimately, the biggest changes are how many words are required at the earlier stages (1-5) and the additional levels of 7, 8 and 9
