‘Responsibility, recovery and reputations: geopolitics and global business’ is the title of two webinars hosted by the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation at Saïd Business School. These were organised to replace the centre’s annual Reputation Symposium, which usually runs for three days at the end of August each year, but which was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In this first talk, Rupert Younger, director of the centre, led a discussion on the geopolitical implications of the Covid-19 pandemic. His guests were Dame Barbara Woodward, UK Ambassador to China; Fred Kempe, CEO of the Atlantic Council; and Sir Mark Sedwill, UK Cabinet Secretary, Head of the UK Civil Service and National Security Adviser to the UK government. Two of the participants - Dame Barbara Woodward and Sir Mark Sedwill - had previously confirmed that they would be moving on to new appointments by the end of 2020.
