Imagine having to deliver a baby in the dark of night with only a cellphone flashlight to see.
That's what Dr. Laura Stachel found when she was conducting research in Nigeria. Nurses and surgeons working to save lives and deliver babies at night with nothing but lanterns and flashlights to see what they are doing.
When she realized that access to light and reliable electricity was such an issue, she not only shed light on the problem, but stepped up with a solution to solve it.
