09-APR-2022. A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 (B738), registration N8600F, performing SWA539 / WN539 from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, TX (USA) to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, AZ (USA) after departure, at 9000 feet, decided to return back, declared an emergency and reported loss of number 2 engine.

COMMENTS: Southwest 539 was under control of Houston Center when they decided to return back. Unfortunately, frequency of Center controller is unavailable. But we’ll hear the nature of the emergency on frequency of Austin Approach.
SWA539: Southwest 539, declaring an emergency.
APPROACH: Southwest 539, Austin Approach, roger. What’s going on, sir?
SWA539: We lost the number 2 engine.
APPROACH: Southwest 539, roger that, when I get you down here we’ll go land 18R. 18R winds are currently 210 at 10.
SWA539: Okay, we’ll plan for 18R and we just need a little bit more of base, radar vectors.
APPROACH: Southwest 539, roger, descend and maintain 5000 and expect the turn to the north and we’ll get you on the downwind.
SWA539: Down to 5000, Southwest 539.
APPROACH: Southwest 539, how are you on weight? Do you need to burn some fuel?
SWA539: Negative, it'll just have to be an overweight landing.
APPROACH: Southwest 539, we’re gonna get the equipment out there, the fire trucks. Is that alright?
APPROACH: Southwest 539, turn left heading 350.

HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.
