This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this delicate floral image of "Lily and Ladybug" with acrylic paint. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to develop a complimentary abstract background with a multi-layer technique, how to paint petals that appear to pop off of the canvas and how to create perfectly proportioned petals with movement. You'll learn how to create dimension in the stem and leaves with highlights and shadows and on the ladybug using layers to develop a shimmering glossy affect. This stunning Madonna Lily will make your brush seem like it has magic in it by making the petals popping off of the canvas with sunshine drenching their edges and the ladybug crawl up the stem looking for it's next meal. You'll learn to paint this realistic looking flower, perfectly proportioned little Beatle and soft composition. Using only 3 brushes and 8 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece with a wonderfully white lily that's accompanied by a cute ladybug. So let's get painting and let's get sipping!

MATERIALS:
Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 flat bristle (large), #12 round (medium), #2 round (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, burnt umber (brown), deep yellow, violet purple, green oxide, fire red, cobalt blue
Other: palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 1st layer of background with white, brown, blue and purple
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 2nd layer of background with white, brown, blue and purple
3. #12 round brush - Paint 1st layer of stem and leaves with brown and green
4. #12 round brush - Paint base coat of petals with white, brown and black (custom gray)
5. #2 round brush - Paint shadows on stem and leaves with black, brown and green
6. #2 round brush - Paint shadow on bell with black, brown and gray
7. #12 round brush - Paint shadow inside flower center with black, brown and gray
8. #2 round brush - Finish stem and leaves with white, yellow, green and red
9. #12 round brush - Paint color inside flower center with yellow
10. #2 round brush - Paint 1st layer of ladybug with brown, red and black
11. #12 round brush - Finish flower petals with white and gray
12. #2 round brush - Paint highlight on bell with black, white, brown, gray and yellow
13. #2 round brush - Paint stamen stems with brown and white
14. #12 round brush - Paint 1st layer of colored part of stamens with red, yellow and brown
15. #2 round brush - Finish ladybug with red, yellow, white and black
16. #12 round brush - Finish the colored part of the stamens with yellow and white
17. #2 round brush - Paint petal shadow accent with brown and black
18. #2 round brush - Sign with black
