Superstorms are a natural phenomena that occur about every three hundred years. The 600mph winds, massive lightning strikes and torrential rains can last for weeks at a time. The first one of these superstorms is currently raging across the Atlantic Ocean and will explode into the North American continent by tomorrow. Millions of lives will be lost, property damage will be in the trillions. Food reserves and energy resources will be wiped out, plunging what's left of the world into hunger and economic disaster.
NASA metrologist Dr. Timothy Briggs has come up with a desperate, but possible, solution. Briggs and his team have built a missile-like device that creates gas pockets of ionized helium and super-cooled nitrogen. These gases immediately cool the center, or "eye" of a hurricane, depleting its energy source.
The hard part will be getting inside the eye of the superstorm to deploy the gas missiles.
