STORYLINE:

A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle in al-Hajaj district near Tikrit on Sunday, injuring six civilians.

Eyewitnesses said the car was targeting a US military convoy while it was driving at the al-Hajaj district near Tikrit 190 kilometres (118 miles) north of Baghdad.

The six injured were taken to Tikrit Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The explosion was one of 13 car bombings in Iraq on Sunday, which left at least 20 people wounded.

Eight of the bombs exploded in Baghdad over a three-hour period.
