In this video I show you how to make poutine french fries, which is is brown gravy over crispy french fries and cheese curds. This is a classic French Canadian dish originating in the province of Quebec in the 1950's. This comfort food is so delicious and easy to prepare and all you need are three ingredients.
Shopping List:
1 large Russet potato cut into french fry shapes
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Cooking spray
1 packet brown gravy mix
Cheese curds (or mozzarella balls)
Parsley for garnish
Directions:
Pat dry. Peel or leave the skin on; up to you. Cut into French fry shapes about 1 inch thick.
Rinse and scrub the potatoes.
Tip: If pre-cutting for later use, place in a sealed container covered in water then place in the fridge up to 24 hours until ready to cook. This will prevent them from turning brown.
Tip: For super crispy fries rinse with cool water several times until the water runs clear. Removing the starch from the taters is the key. Once rinsed, lay out in a single layer on paper towels and pat really dry before frying.
When ready to air fry, spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and pre-heat the air fryer at 390 for 3 minutes.
Place your taters in the pre-heated basket and lightly spray with cooking spray.
Air fry at 390 for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy, shaking several times during the cook. NOTE: ALL AIR FRYERS COOK DIFFERENTLY SO COOKING TIMES MAY VARY. JUST KEEP AN EYE ON YOURS. IT ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW MANY TATERS YOU'RE COOKING.
While your taters are cooking, make the gravy per package instructions. Keep hot!!!
Place your fried taters in a serving dish or tray and place the cheese curds in the fries. Cover with the hot gravy. The hot gravy will melt the cheese.
Garnish with parsley.
Serve and enjoy!
