More about Fillers:
How does Lip Filler work?
Dr Nina will assess your natural lip shape and decide if the lips’ symmetry needs evening out and if one lip might need more product than the other.
After applying a topical anaesthetic, she will inject the hyaluronic acid dermal filler in a series of small injections all around the lip lines. The treatment usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes.
There is normally little to no pain beyond the feeling of pressure and a slight pinch. There is no downtime either and you can return to your normal activities straight after the treatment.
One thing to note, it is important to avoid dental work for 2 weeks prior and after your lip enhancement treatment.
Potential side effects and contraindications
There may be some swelling or bruising for up to 72 hours after the procedure. The swelling can be treated by gently holding an ice pack to the lip area for short periods of time and should largely reduce by the second day. The bruising can be easily covered with concealer and/or lipstick.
Though extremely rare, there are a few more serious side effects that can occur and might require medical attention. These include:
excessive peeling
signs of infection (itching and redness around the lips)
severe swelling and/or severe bruising that doesn’t get better after a couple of days
any rash in or around your lips following your procedure
If you are prone to getting cold sores, make sure to let Dr Nina know during the consultation appointment to discuss preventative methods and medications, as the lip enhancement treatment can sometimes trigger a cold-sore flare.
Finally, lip fillers are not suitable for anyone with severe allergies, and you should avoid dermal fillers of any kind if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Results and aftercare of Lip Fillers
Results are instant but will complete at two weeks once the filler will be completely integrated by the skin. Patients should also avoid lying on their side for a couple of days and try not to kiss or touching their lips too much for at least 2 weeks afterwards.
It is important to keep in mind that achieving the look you want does not necessarily happen overnight. For example, if you have very thin lips it can take a few sessions to achieve a very full but natural look.
Fillers can last anything from 4 to 8 months, but the exact duration varies from person to person based on various factors, such as the individual’s metabolism and lifestyle. On average most people need top-ups every 4 to 6 months to keep up the desired size and shape.
What are under-eye fillers
Under-eye fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid treatments (commonly known as Restylane and Juvederm) that can be used to treat volume loss and dark areas underneath the eyes.
Non-surgical and minimal invasive, tear trough fillers are an effective way to treat wrinkles, the hollowed-out look under the eyes and dark circles, for a soft and natural effect.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are made of a transparent gel that mimics the natural substance that our bodies produce. They are easy to smooth, less likely to clump, and have been shown to support collagen production in the skin, which further plumps and smooths the skin over time.
How under-eye fillers work
Non-surgical and minimal invasive, tear trough fillers are an effective way to treat wrinkles, the hollowed-out look under the eyes and dark circles, for a soft and natural effect.
It is important to distinguish dark circles caused by loss of volume and/or genetics from dark circles caused by hyperpigmentation in the area. So, if you are interested in improving the appearance of the area under your eyes, the first step is to book a consultation with Dr Nina at Facial Sculpting. She will be able to assess what is causing the issue and recommend a combination of treatments, which could include under eye fillers.
