Elon Musk has been hinting at battery breakthroughs leading up to Tesla's Battery Day. Amprius, a small battery company working on silicon nanowires has set up shop next to Tesla's headquarters. It's technology could enable better battery density and eventually allow for VTOL aircraft, something that Elon Musk has been talking about for 10 years.
