The Tower of Babel was built in an effort to defy the most high, reach Heaven, and dethrone God himself. This was done in response to the fact that God had destroyed the world with a flood years earlier, and the people of that time wanted to make sure that if it happened again, they would be safe.
But would they have been able to reach heaven if God did not step in and confuse their languages?
