Since having my orchidectomy in October 2020, I have always been on the list to have a prosthetic one put in. At the time of diagnosis, I thought yeah, if you are taking one out, what not put another in. one in one out.
Thats not how it worked at the time. on reflection I am glad it didn't work out that way because a year later I've finally made the decision on what I would like to do. that is NOT to have more surgery and not to put the prosthesis in.
I have had a lot of time to accept the absence of my once functional left testicle and get used to the scare left behind when it was removed. I've learned to love my body and be very grateful for everything it has been through and for recovering very well.
I was also not a fan of the the idea of surgery the first time around, so having more on a voluntary basis doesn't fill me with excitement.
What is great is at every point my Consultants and Nurses have given me freedom to choose and I feel very luck for that.
There is only about 30% of people who have an orchidectomy that go on to have the surgery. some of them because they were unfortunate to have had a double orchidectomy so having no balls is a very different experience to having one,. there's also some studies where it becomes infected and others where its just not ever felt right and the patients had them removed.

If you are worried about any abnormalities in your testicles please seek advice from a doctor.
If you find testicular cancer early (like me) you can avoid a lot of complications with further treatment like chemo/radiotherapy or prevent its reading rung the body too.
