‘Cornwall the Land I Love’, is a song of praise for her beloved country. Probably Brenda’s most anthemic song, it was written by her mentor, Cornish bard Richard Gendall. This recording dates from 1983, and was part of a significant concert event Brenda undertook with two other iconic female singers, Mercedes Sosa from Argentina and Maria Carta from Sardinia, labelled the ‘Three Divas’ – each powerfully representing their country. Mercedes was, like Brenda, large, colourful, wore flowing robes, and was a cultural icon with an amazing voice; Maria Carta a statuesque, strong singer who appeared in two of the Godfather movies. This film was shown in the programme ‘Champs Elysee’ on French TV on 16/4/1983.
