The first modern repatriates from the Ukrainian lands to the land of Israel set off at the end of the 19th century, after a wave of pogroms of 1882. They are usually called the First Aliyah migrants. After the first, the Second Aliyah took place at the beginning of the twentieth century, - wrote Boris Lozhkin on Facebook.
This year we mark one hundredth anniversary of the Third Aliyah. In 1919, a ship Ruslan arrived to the port of Jaffa from Odessa with 600 repatriates on board. It is the repatriation on the ship Ruslan that is considered the start of the Third Aliyah. The story of those people is in a short video of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.[ Ссылка ]
