Chicken pieces cooked in coriander green chilli paste along with other indian spcies. A must try for its refreshing flavour.
DHANIYA CHICKEN
Ingredients
750 grams chicken, cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone
1 medium bunch fresh coriander, cleaned
1 inch ginger, chopped
1-2 green chillies, chopped
¼ cup yogurt
2 tablespoons oil
2 bay leaves
5-6 green cardamoms
5-6 cloves
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
3 green chillies, slit
2 medium onions, sliced
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
3 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
Juice of ½ lemon
Fresh coriander sprig for garnishing
Method
1. Blend together coriander leaves, ginger, green chillies and yogurt to a smooth paste.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add bay leaves, cardamoms, cloves, peppercorns, green chillies, onions and garlic, mix and sauté till onions turns translucent.
3. Add chicken, flour, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt, mix well, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
4. Add the prepared paste and 2 cups water, stir to mix , cover and cook till the chicken is fully done.
5. Add coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
6. Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
