The historical lack of investment in water infrastructure is making it harder for water utilities to meet ambitious goals for 2050. The U.S. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provided a much-needed boost of federal funding for water. However, still more investment is needed to ensure a reliable supply of clean drinking water well into the future.
"In 2050, I think we’ll see more #WaterSector funding come from the local, state, and national levels,” says Matthew Durham, sales engineer for American Cast Iron Pipe Company. “The IIJA provided $50 billion from the federal government, just for clean drinking water.”
Durham expects funding for water infrastructure will continue to grow as people across the U.S. recognize how vital clean drinking water is for human life.
