Here are the intro and the first song from the live album "Santa Monica '72", wich was recorded on October 20th 1972 at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (California), during the Ziggy Stardust tour. Taken from an FM radio broadcast, it was available only as a bootleg for more than 20 years, and was actually released in 1994 by Bowie's former management company without his approval. It has been officially reissued by EMI/Virgin in 2008.
On this occasion Bowie said those few words : "I can tell that I'm totally into being Ziggy by this stage of touring. It's no longer an act ; I am him. This would be around the tenth American show for us and you can hear that we are all pretty high on ourselves. We train wreck a couple of things, I miss some words and sometimes you wouldn't know that pianist Mike Garson was on stage with us but overall I really treasure this bootleg. Mick Ronson is at his blistering best." (April 2008).
On this show Mick Ronson did the guitar and some vocals, Trevor Bolder did the bass, Mick Woodmansey did the drums and Mike Garson played the piano. David Bowie did the vocals and played guitar.
Hope you'll appreciate it.
