The throttle on this control box started sticking in and the control just was not working as smooth as it should. It was very hard to move throttle from and back.
I tested the cable, cabals where very good almost new, and smooth.
First, I decided to buy a new one. Maybe a new Mercury control or similar for about 300-350 USD. However, before that I decided to tear it off to see what the problem is. Then I disassembled the unit
I had a tough time getting several of the cover plate screws out and the after I completely disassembled the unit I cleaned off the grease with brake cleaner. There was less grease inside than needed. After cleaned I filled with grease, assembled and tested. It works smooth as silk now and has nice feeling to move it. Lubrication include Threaded bar (M6), stainless and nuts cost about 25 USD. So only lubrication saved me about 300, which is awesome.
