WEATHER ALERT DAYS are issued for a prolonged heatwave. Daytime highs will be in the upper 90s and low 100s for northwest and west-central Montana. Southwest Montana will be in the mid 90s. Please check on the elderly, those susceptible to heat, and protect all animals and livestock during this stretch of hot temperatures. The prolonged heat will dry out vegetation, increasing fire weather concerns.
EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING is in effect from noon Tuesday through 11 PM Friday for the Southern Clearwater Mountains. Dangerously hot conditions with major risk of heat effects possible. This level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
