During the age of odd prog-rock Kenneth Connor released an album of odd prog-comedy in this concept album where he sings original Elizabethan bawdy and love songs on the first side and then sings contemporary Elizabeth II songs, often with an Elizabeth I style, on the second side. He compares the styles and differences of the two Elizabethan ages in music.
His conjecture seems to be that the first Elizabethan age was more innocent and the songs were about love as opposed to sex like the modern Elizabethan age, and yet he demonstrates this with a series of bawdy lusty madrigals whereas the second side for the current age features a few songs about love so the overall picture would be that both ages were a mixture of love and lust. Although the first Elizabethan songs were also bawdy for their time Kenneth believes they still had an innocence and jollity whereas modern music, even when about love, is negative and depressing.
The contemporary songs sung include tracks by the Beatles (Girl and Norwegian Wood), and Baby It's Cold Outside. He also has some original sogns such as 'Come Shack Up With Me' about the modern lazy hippy youth, but sung in an Elizabeth I madrigal style.
He sings some of the songs alone and some with Glennis Beresford.
