Considered a priority by Congress, the government, and investors, a major tax reform is vital for recovery of the economy and attraction of foreign capital. All parties share the consensus that it is of utmost importance to reduce the number of taxes, the complexity, and the high degree of uncertainty of the Brazilian tax system.
As part of a broader tax reform, President Bolsonaro’s administration recently presented to Congress Bill of Law No. 3,887, which is intended to create a new value-added tax known as CBS tax, replacing the current social contributions (PIS and COFINS).
The webinar discussed: (i) the status of the tax reform bills under analysis by Congress; (ii) the government´s tax reform plan; and (iii) analysis of the CBS bill and its impact on different industries (manufacturing, agrobusiness, exporters, infrastructure projects, financial services, etc.).
